And, honestly, it should be, no matter how desensitized one might be after watching a bazillion anime shows where high schoolers are treated more like adults. There’s just something about a killing game, one that involves high school students at that, that I find disturbing. I say that as someone who has played the first two games and also watched the anime that the series inspired. On an emotional level, however, it connects with you in a very powerful way.Īdmittedly, I’ve never been completely OK with Danganronpa. It makes you feel uncomfortable deep inside that pit in your stomach, perhaps even give you a gnawing sense of guilt. Playing the Danganronpa series is akin to admiring controversial art.
